Stanley L. "Stan" Elkins, 83
OCALA, Fla. - Stanley L. "Stan" Elkins of Ocala, formerly of Wilmington, Del., passed away Saturday, July 21, 2007, at his residence. He was 83.
Mr. Elkins was born in Price Hill, W.Va., and moved to Ocala in 1984 from Wilmington.
He was a bench worker for Chrysler Corp., and was a very active member of Central Baptist Church, Ocala, where he bowled on the church league.
Mr. Elkins is survived by his wife of 25 years, Virgie Elkins; a son, Eugene Elkins of Newark, Del.; his stepdaughters, Mary (Bob) Martin of Tazewell, Va., Linda Short of Townsend, Del., Brenda (Daryl) French of Newark, and Dorothy (Larry) Hess of Smyrna, Del.; a stepson, Henry Taylor of Bear, Del.; a sister, Gracie Turer of Onida; a brother, Lawrence Elkins of Elyria, Ohio; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and interment will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Gracelawn Memorial Park, U.S. 13, New Castle, where friends may call at 1 p.m. in the cemetery chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Central Baptist Church, 1714 S.E. 36th Ave., Ocala, FL 34471; or to the Hospice of Marion County, 3231 S.W. 34th Ave., Ocala, FL 34474.
Arrangements are by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Smyrna.
