Shirley E. Matter

SMYRNA - Shirley E. Matter of Smyrna, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 at her home. She was 78. Mrs. Matter was born July 7, 1935 in Hazelton, Pa., the daughter of the late Adam and Edith Broadt. She worked as an Office Manager in the Hotel and Electronics Industry. Shirley enjoyed the beach and her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, John Matter; two children, Donna and David Jacobson; four grandchildren, Tamara, Michael, Jessica, and Carey; and one great granddaughter, Emma. She is also survived by her step-children, Carol, John, and Eileen; and their children and grandchildren. A viewing will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St., Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 12 p.m. Following the services her body will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to National Fibromyalgia Association, 2121 South Towne Centre Place, Suite 300, Anaheim, CA 92806 or the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way Suite 205, New Castle, 19720.
