Sarah L. Stephens, 78 FELTON - Sarah L. Stephens, 78, of Felton, passed away, Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She is the daughter of the late John and Stella Young Burchell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Paul Mallow in 2003; and a brother, John Burchell. Mrs. Stephens was a homemaker in her early years and later in life became a pastor and started the Community Christian Church in Harrington. She attended Bible School, graduated, and became licensed and ordained in 1993. She loved to shop and take care of people. No one was ever a stranger. She would strike up a conversation with a sales clerk and end up praying for them. She touched so many people's lives and loved being with her family. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, John W. Stephens; two children, Brad Mallow and Diana Wilmer; brother, Jerry Burchell; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and her two yorkies, Jenny and Joey. Funeral services will be 8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 28, in the Chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main Street Felton, where friends may call for visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.
