DOVER - Samuel Wilson Jr. of Dover, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 19, 2016, after a lengthy illness. Samuel was born on Nov. 16, 1946, in Philadelphia to Sammie and Beatrice Wilson. He was preceded in death by his siblings, James, John, Bernice & Angela; father-in-law, Stuart Williams; & son-in-law Calvin Farlow. In 1965, Samuel enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 18. He had an accomplished career as a Vehicle Operator and Dispatcher, and later worked as a Supply Management Superintendent, until retiring in 1991. He continued his education after retirement, graduating from Wilmington University with a dual Master's Degree in Human Resource Management and Business Administration. Samuel or "Sammy" as he was affectionately called by family and friends, had many hobbies and interests. He was a great cook, and enjoyed fishing and working in the garden. He was also a history buff and took every opportunity to share his knowledge with others. He lived a quiet and peaceful life, and enjoyed spending time with his family. Samuel leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Cheryl; two daughters, Tamika Farlow and Monica Curry; two sons, Sam Wilson III (Vernique) and Stuart Wilson (Diana); his parents, Sammie & Beatrice; three grandchildren, Erika Curry, Jordan Farlow & DeVon Wilson; and mother in-law, Thelma Williams; two sisters-in-law Gwendolyn Freeman & Rhonda Watson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Delaware 19934. Friends may view one hour prior. Burial with full Military Honors, will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, Delaware.
