Samuel D. McLaughlin, 90

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. - Samuel D. McLaughlin of Winter Springs died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, in Winter Springs. He was 90.

Born in Clarksville, Mr. McLaughlin was the son of Benjamin and Edna (Evans) McLaughlin.

He attended Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia and Strayers Business School in Baltimore.

In 1947, Mr. McLaughlin developed and managed the distribution department which processed direct mail advertising for the Family Finance System, a national corporation with headquarters in Wilmington, Del. Family Finance operated nearly 500 offices throughout the country. The headquarters moved from Wilmington to Miami in 1963.

He became a Christian in 1947 when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He attended First Baptist Church of Winter Springs.

He is survived by his son, David; daughter-in-law, Sandi; and granddaughter, Lauren.

Services will be at Melson Funeral Home in Frankford on Friday. The viewing will be at 2 p.m. with services at 3.

Burial will be next to his wife Helena at St. George's Methodist Church Cemetery, Clarksville.
