CORDOVA, Md. - Ruthanna V. Callahan of Cordova died on Tuesday, March 6, 2007, in Memorial Hospital, Easton, Md. She was 84.
She was born Jan. 16, 1923, in Greensboro, Md., daughter of the late John F. and Ethel Tribbett Vonville.
She was a 1939 graduate of Greensboro High School.
For many years, she was employed by Fox's 5 and 10 store in Greensboro, and Vernon Powell Shoe Store in Easton.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Cordova, the Ladies Sodality Women's Group and a volunteer for FFA.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles P. Vonville, John J. Vonville and Phillip Vonville.
Mrs. Callahan is survived by her husband, James B. Callahan, whom she married June 25, 1942; three sons, John R. Callahan and his wife, Jeannie, William J. Callahan and his wife, Gina and James B. Callahan Jr. and his wife, Karen, all of Cordova; two daughters, Jane Wood and her husband, Earle of Denton, Md., and Ann Hurst and her husband, Ronald of Greenwood; two sisters, Mary Catherine Breeding of Greensboro and Jeannette "Bootsie" E. Newcomb of Millersville, Md.; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren
A Funeral Liturgy for Mrs. Callahan will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Cordova.
Friends may call on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Cordova.
