Smyrna - Ruth S. Collins passed away on Monday Aug. 17, 2015. She was born Feb. 18, 1924 in New Castle. She married Clarence S. Collins, Jr. on June 24, 1943. She was co-owner of Slaughter's, Inc., along with her husband and children for over 50 years. She was active in many local organizations including the American Legion Auxiliary and the Twentieth Century Club of Smyrna for many years. Ruth enjoyed spending time at her residence at Rehoboth Beach and going to Atlantic City with her husband Clarence, sister-in-law Elsie, and brother-in-law, Dickie. In addition to her parents, Gilbert and Edna Shahan Sinex, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence S. Collins, Jr.; her son, David M. Collins; her sister, Virginia Mae Sinex; her brother, Gilbert M. Sinex; and her brother-in-law, Albert Hooey. She is survived by her son, Clarence "Butch" (Terri) Collins III; her daughter, Barbara C. (Russell) Greene; her sister, Esther M. Hooey; seven grandchildren, Sharon (Doug) Niner; Gloria (Michael) Cohen; Michael Collins; Roberta (G.R.) Myers; Meggan Rife; Adam Greene; and Michael Pleasanton; 14 great-grandchildren, Tre; Scotty; Adriana; Alexis; Hannah; Haylee; Gemma; Geoffrey; Stella; Mackenzie; Madison; Makayla; Sydney; and Laney; a sister-in-law, Elsie Everett; a brother-in-law, Clarence "Dickie" Everett; and a nephew, Clarence "Chip" (Angie) Everett.
