GEORGETOWN - Ruth Elizabeth Rust, passed away peacefully at Beebe Healthcare on June 1, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 22, 1925 in Laurel, DE to the late Roger Lee and Grace (Masten) Dykes.
Ruth grew up on a farm and spoke fondly of those days with her parents. She loved the farm life. Ruth married at 19 years old. She and her late husband (Raymond)bought a home in Georgetown De where she still resided until her final last days. Ruth loved her home and was blessed to also have a beautiful cottage in Dewey Beach where she spent summers together with friends and family. Ruth and Raymond owned a store in town that many people still have fond memories of. For many years the two of them worked side by side in the Rust Market grocery store along with their daughter, Nancy.
Ruth was a Certified Nursing Assistant, she worked at Beebe healthcare for 17 years and spoke so fondly of her days there. She truly loved taking care of others, so much that she continued to work part time for Cheer taking care of clients in their homes until she was 78. She also enjoyed volunteering her time at the Robin Hood Thrift Store as well as with church events She was a woman of faith and a devout Christian. Ruth loved her church and her church family. She attended Grace United Methodist Church in Georgetown and was a member of the Willing Strivers.
In addition to her parents; Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Rust. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Sapp (John); granddaughter, Elizabeth Agresta (Dominic); great grandchildren, Kyle, Cody and Corey; and great-great grandchild, Dean. Ruth loved her family and one of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandsons. If you had the pleasure of meeting her, you remembered her. She loved people and life. Ruth will be missed by so many including her beloved cat, Patches.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Grace United Methodist Church, 7 S. King Street, Georgetown, Del. and a time of Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Interment will be at the Union Cemetery, Georgetown, Del.
