Ruth D. Gilley, 85 MILFORD - Ruth D. Gilley passed away on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 at home. She was born in Snowville, Va. the daughter of the late Milton and Madeline (Bocock) Scott. She was a homemaker. She was an artist, loved to write poems and especially loved her cats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Gilley. She is survived by her companion, William D. Schelts of Milford; daughter, Elizabeth Gail Trovitch and husband, John of Weatherly, Pa.; one sister, Dorothy Bush and husband Charlie of Georgetown; granddaughter, Tammy Hischar and husband, Danny; two great-grandsons, Alex and Jestin; and several nieces and nephews; and her three cats. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St. Milford, where friends may call after 12 p.m. Interment will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford, DE 19968. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: ASPCA, 600 S. South St., New Castle, DE 19720.
