Ruth B. Adams

Bridgeville - Ruth B. Adams died after a long illness at the Lofland Park Center in Seaford. She was born on Nov. 10, 1923 in Middletown, daughter of the late William J. and Lida (Swiggett) Brown. Ruth had lived all her life in Bridgeville. She and her late husband, Alvin C. Adams, had been part owners of T. G. Adams & Sons, Inc. of Bridgeville, Tri-Gas & Oil Co. Inc. of Federalsburg, MD and Adams Farms of Bridgeville. She was a founding life member of The Bridgeville Historical Society, Inc. and life member of the Governor Ross Mansion and Plantation of the Seaford Historical Society, Inc. Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alvin C. Adams in 1988; and her son in-law, Melvin L. Joseph, Sr. She is survived by a son, Thurman W. "Doc" Adams and his wife, Rose of Seaford, who had seen to her care for the past several years. She is also survived by a daughter, Ruthi A. Joseph of Millsboro; two grandsons, James R. Adams and his wife, Alisa of Lewes; William G. Adams of New York City, N.Y.; a brother and sister in-law, Charles H. and Ruth C. Brown of Bridgeville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A private Entombment was held earlier in the family crypt at the Bridgeville Cemetery. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws Street, Bridgeville, DE 19933. It was her request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Bridgeville Historical Society, Inc. P. O. Box 306, Bridgeville, DE 19933 or The Seaford District Library and Cultural Center, 600 North Market St. Ext., Seaford, DE 19973.
