Ruth A. Morris, 86

MILFORD - Ruth A. Morris of Milford died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, in Courtland Manor Nursing Home, Dover. She was 86.

Mrs. Morris was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late John and Anna Caroline (McCord) Layfield.

She was an operator at L.D. Caulk Co. in Milford for 18 years before retiring in 1983.

She loved traveling with her family and friends. She traveled throughout the East Coast as well as enjoying several cruises, going as far as Hawaii. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting doilies and working jigsaw puzzles.

Mrs. Morris was a member of the Lighthouse Christian Center and a former member of the Milford Elks Lodge and the Milford Senior Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Leon Adams, in 1943; her second husband, William E. Morris Sr. in 1977; a stepson, William E. Morris Jr., a stepdaughter, Betty Klapp; a brother, Bernard Layfield; and a granddaughter, Linda Simpson.

She is survived by a son, William M. Adams of Keokuk, Iowa; two daughters, Ruth Ann Dickerson and Leona Clendaniel, both of Milford; a stepson, E. Wayne Morris, and a stepdaughter, Diane Simpson, both of The Villages, Fla.; a brother, John Layfield of Salisbury, Md.; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call two hours earlier.

Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions either to the Lighthouse Christian Center, 662 Milford-Harrington Highway, Milford, DE 19963; or to Courtland Manor Nursing Home, 889 S. Little Creek Road, Dover, DE 19901.
