Ruby B. Passwaters

MILTON - Ruby B. Passwaters passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016 at home. Ruby was born in Milford, VA, the daughter of the late Paige Hunter and Emma Jane (Clayton) Brooks. She was raised in Bowling Green, VA. She had worked at Silco 5&10 in Milton, Charlie Jester's Store, Milford Hardware and at L.D. Caulk in Milford for 22 years and was also a homemaker. She enjoyed swimming. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond W. Passwaters in 1964; daughter, Ethel Jane Clifton; son, Richard "Dick" Passwaters; and a grandson, David Brooks Clifton. She is survived by her children, Elma Jean Walker of Huntsville, AL, Bob Passwaters and his wife Sharron of Lincoln, Kelly Pettyjohn and her husband, Eddie of Milton; son-in-law, Donald Clifton; daughter-in-law, Ida Passwaters; 15 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 8, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call after 12:00 noon. Interment will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
