HARRINGTON - Ronald R. Messick Sr., of Harrington, died on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at his home. He was 67. Ronald was the owner and operator of Ron's Mobile Homes. His motto of, "We'll make a believer out of you," helped him establish several communities around Harrington. His greatest accomplishment was building Ron's Community, a mobile home park, from scratch by selling one home at a time, to the present day total of 143. He believed in treating everyone equally and fairly. Being in business for over 30 years, he had many loyal repeat customers who come back time after time to buy a home. Ron will be remembered as easy going and laid back. He loved to laugh and never knew a stranger. He made friends easily and once he met you, he never forgot you. He loved to build things, and make things happen. "No" was not an option for him, and he followed all his projects through to completion. In his spare time he enjoyed deep water fishing and landscaping his lawn to make it look nice. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him and by the countless and devoted members of his community and mobile home parks. Ron was a member of the American Legion, Harrington Moose Lodge, and the Manufacturing Housing Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Messick and Hilda Buckson. He is survived by his companion of over 5 years, Dawn Sabino of Harrington; son, Ronald Messick Jr. of Harrington; daughters, April Steagall of Harrington, Rachael Messick of Harrington, and Genieviea Messick of Harrington; and five grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE 19952, where a visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 8, 2010. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.
