Ronald Lee Rider, 69

DOVER - Ronald Lee Rider, of Dover, died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at his home. He was 69. Mr. Rider was born in Hagerstown, Md., on May 28, 1940, to the late Milton B. and Doris Reedy Rider. He served 23 years in the US Air Force, retiring in 1981 as a MSgt. He then became a Civil Servant at Dover AFB in 1982, and continued his government service until his death. Mr. Rider was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Rider, in May of this year. Mr. Rider is survived by three sons, Jim "Moochie" Rider and his wife Cheryl of Dayton, Ohio, Milton "Mickey" Rider and his wife Karen of Dover, and Ronald W. Rider and his wife Ann, also of Dover; and a daughter, Tena R. Rider of Las Vegas, Nev. Also surviving are four grandchildren, James R., Jessica M., Ronnie, and Natalie A. Rider; two sisters, Joan Buchanan, and Judy Johnson; and brother, Milton Rider, all of Hagerstown, Md. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 30, at the Torbert Funeral Chapel, South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover. Friends may call at the Funeral Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday. Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to the Delaware Diabetes Coalition, C/O Wheeler & Associates Management Services, Inc., 1009 S. Bradford Street, Suite 9, Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
