SMYRNA - Ronald A. Grier, age 94, of Smyrna, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Kent General Hospital in Dover. Mr. Grier was born May 25, 1921 in Wilmington, the son of the late David F. and Helen E. Grier. Ronald served his country with honor during WWII in the Army Air Corp. He married his beloved wife, Mary in Sioux City, Iowa on June 24, 1945. Together, they enjoyed 70 wonderful years of marriage, including 22 winters in Florida. Mr. Grier had 19 years of combined work for Wilson Refrigeration and Tyler Refrigeration until 1958, where he held the title of District Sales Representative. He went on to work for the Delaware Dept. of Labor, Div. of Unemployment Insurance and retired in 1987 after 26 years of work as the Manager of the Dover Unemployment office. A sports enthusiast, Ronald also enjoyed big band music and gardening. He was a member of the Smyrna First Presbyterian Church of Smyrna, a 50 year Masonic member of Harmony Lodge # 13 of Smyrna and the American Legion David C. Harrison Post #14 of Smyrna. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul B. Grier. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his son, Kenneth A. Grier and his wife Michele of Bellbrook, Ohio; a granddaughter, Katie; and a grandson, Christopher. A viewing will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2015 fin the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to First Presbyterian Church of Smyrna, 118 W.
