VIRGINIA BEACH - Roland James Coker, also known as Quiet Bear, Dad, PopPop and Pete, peacefully went to be with his Lord, our Savior, in his home surrounded with love from his family and friends on February 7th. Pete was born in Dover, Delaware to the late Roland and Hazella Coker. He loved his Lord, family and friends as well as the beach and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He traveled between two homesteads as his license plate proclaimed VB2VB (Virginia Beach to Vero Beach).
Pete will be missed dearly by his wife, Shannon Goodloe Coker; daughter, Allison MacDonald and husband, Mark; son, Christian Coker and wife, Morgan; four grandchildren, Riley and Taylor MacDonald; and Lily and Lorelei Coker; mother-in-law Gloria Mitchell and husband, William; sister/friend Julia Williams; sister Arlena Coker; sister-in-law, Sabrina Wilcox and husband, Mitchell; several nieces and nephews; the Jersey crew, and many friends.
He was welcomed into heaven by those who went before him, his mom and dad; Elaine Muntz (sister); Wythena Fleming (niece); Norman Goodloe (father-in-law); and Sheri Richardson (sister-in-law).
A memorial service will be held on 10th of Feb., 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Church, 401 35th Street in Virginia Beach.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Trinity Church.
