GREENWOOD - Roberta L. "Nickie" Marando, formerly of New Castle went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 16, 2018 at the home of her daughter in Ft. Myers. Fla. Nickie had been an active church member throughout her life, serving in children's ministries. She owned and operated a children's daycare for 12 years in her home. She loved to laugh, crochet and read books. Nickie's last years has left us memories of humor, funny remarks, smiles and laughter. There was joy even to the end. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Pastor Gerard "Jerry" Marando. She is survived by her three children, Jenene Ponte (Ralph) of Ft. Myers, Fla., Scott Marando (Joyce) and Renae Marando (Robert Rifenburg) both of Greenwood; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. An Open House Celebration of her life will be held at the home of her son Scott: 13265 Hunters Cove Rd., Greenwood on Saturday May 5, 2018 from 1 to 4 p.m. A memorial service and internment at Gracelawn will be held at a later date.
