Robert L. Smith Sr.

BRIDGEVILLE - Robert L. Smith Sr., of Bridgeville, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, in Wilmington. He was 59. Robert was born Aug. 8, 1952, in Wilmington, the son of Elwood Sr. and Arlene Lewis Smith. He enjoyed gardening and watching movies. When he was a kid he loved to watch cartoons like Popeye the Sailor Man so his family nicknamed him Popeye. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Smith. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Smith of Harrington; four sons, Robert Jr., Christopher, Kevin and Brian; seven grandchildren; six brothers, Richard Jester, and Elwood, Warren, Dennis, Charles, Larry Smith; three sisters, Florence Wootten, Faye Eaton, and Joyce Bawel; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at St. Johnstown Cemetery, one mile East of Greenwood on Route 16. Arrangements by Fleischauer Funeral Home, Greenwood.
