Robert Fernandez, 82

DOVER - Robert Fernandez, of Dover, died Friday, March 27, 2009, at home. He was 82. He was born May 15, 1926, in Puerto Rico, to the late Epifanio and Felicita (Rivera) Fernandez. Robert moved to the United States and settled in New York City's Ansonia Hotel, at the age of 22. He then met the love of his life Pauline, and after marrying they relocated to Teaneck, N.J. in 1966, before moving to Dover in 2002. Mr. Fernandez was an art design director, and had attended Pratt Institute, before working for International Paper in New Jersey. In his spare time he enjoyed photography, gardening, oil painting, and sang professionally as an operatic tenor, whose career was cut short due to a leg disability. He was a kind and elegant person, who had several collections, including: clocks, antique miniature cars, and miniature soldiers which he hand painted. Beside his parents, his was preceded in death by his sister, Carmelita Fabregas. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Pauline (Kane) Fernandez.
