Robert D. Willey

SEAFORD - Robert D. Willey, Sr., passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. He retired in 2013, after 25 years' service, from the State of Delaware Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer. He had worked at both James T. Vaughn Correction Center in Smyrna and Sussex Correctional Institute in Georgetown. Robert was a US Army veteran. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, Emily and Abel Smallwood, and fishing. He was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Willey, Sr., and step-father, Louis Nobles. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Jewell) Willey; seven children, Robert D., Jr., Michael, Joseph, Luke, Shane and A.J. Willey and Lorraine Smallwood; ten grandchildren; his mother, Edith (Morgan) Willey Nobles; and seven siblings, Betty Rahner, Connie Hamilton, James E. Jr., Frank D. and Kevin A. Willey, Mark and Bruce Nobles. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at Noon in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown with visitation Friday evening from 6 to 8pm and Saturday from 11a to 12p. Burial will be in McColley's Cemetery, Redden.
