ELLENDALE - Robert D. Adams, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, Jun. 7, 2017, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.
Robert was born in Georgetown, the son of the late John Erin Adams and Bertha (Morris) Adams.
He retired as a drill sergeant from the U.S. Army after 23 years of service.
After retirement from the service, he was a truck driver for Newton Trucking Company in Seaford.
He was a member of the Ellendale V.F.W.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Beverly Buckley; and 11 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ethel Mae (Webb) Adams; two children, Brenda A. Scarborough and husband Carl of Milford and Robert D. Adams, Jr. and wife Doris Ann of Ellendale; two sisters, Martha Landon of Milford and Grace Byrd of Georgetown; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jun. 17, 2017, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call after 12 p.m. Burial will be private.
