HARTLY - Robert Clifford "Stan" Stanley of Hartly died Saturday, June 16, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover surrounded by his family. He was 73.

Mr. Stanley was born on Oct. 11, 1933, in Cordova, W.Va., son of the late Harley and Delores (Hammond) Stanley.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

While living in the Wilmington area, he operated several Texaco stations, one in Wilmington Manor, Bob Stanley"s Texaco and his second at New Castle Avenue. Before his retirement from his businesses in 1978, he added a Gulf station. He then moved to his present farm in Hartly. In addition to farming, he drove a truck for Signal Delivery (Sears) until fully retiring.

Mr. Stanley enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed most drivers. His favorite was Mark Martin. He enjoyed his family and friends and was always willing to help.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Carletta Stanley and Lora Ewell; and his stepfather, Roby Die Stanley.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Estella Stanley; a daughter, Cynthia Morris and her husband, J.R. of Camden; two brothers, Austin Stanley of Bear and Larry Stanley of Elkton, Md.; five sisters, Gernie Hudson and her husband, John of Wilmington, Kate Hodge and her husband, Frank of Elkton, Janet Cook of Wilmington, Gladys Wright and her husband, Darrel of Port Deposit, Md., and Brenda Budzialek of Elkton; two granddaughters, Megan Morris of Felton and Holly Morris of Dover.

Services will be noon Wednesday in Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call two hours earlier.

A private burial service for family will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Boys and Girls Town, Att: Donations, 14100 Crawford Road, Boystown, NE 68010; or the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 407, Camden, DE 19934.
