Lt. Col. USAF Ret. Robert 'Bob' Bargo Jr., 80

DOVER - Robert (Bob) Bargo Jr. Lt. Col. USAF Ret., joined the Heavenly Chorus on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, in BayHealth Medical Center. He was 80. Born in Lewistown, Pa., he was the son of the late Robert and Evelyn Mae Buckley Bargo. Upon graduation from Lewistown High School in 1946 he entered the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he spent 24 years serving our country as a pilot. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and had retired in 1970. He had operated a business known as Handyman II, as he enjoyed woodworking. He was a person who always gave of himself to others in need and had actually been involved with the preparation and delivery of Meals on Wheels, prior to the Wheels on Meals program that is associated with the Dover Modern Maturity Center today. Bob and his family assisted on Christmas Day with the preparation and delivery of over 200 meals and this was to have been his last involvement due to illness. A kind and gentle man, who was always available to assist others, Bob will be greatly missed by the lives he touched. He was a member of the Dover Modern Maturity Center, Camps Farthest Out Organism, and enjoyed gardening. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Gaye in 1954. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Bettylou Grabbe Bargo, of Dover; two daughters, Sharon Lynne and Susan Dawn Bargo, both of Dover; three sisters, Dorothy Shields, of Altoona, Pa., Jean Lennartz and her husband Bill, of Chambersburg, Pa., and Belva Glick ,of Bellville, Pa.; and one brother, Cloyd Bargo and his wife Mary, of Reedsville, Pa. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Faith Community Church, 2240 S. DuPont Hwy., Camden, where viewing will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will be 12 noon Tuesday in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown, Pa. Family suggests donations in his memory to either the Salvation Army, 611 Forrest St., Dover, DE 19904; or to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800. Arrangements are by Michael J. Ambruso Funeral Director, Inc. Dover.
