Richard Oliver Biddle, age 73, of Dover passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Kent General Hospital.
Mr. Biddle was born December 3, 1950, in Dover, Delaware to the late Maxwell Harrington Biddle and Ione M. McNamire Biddle.
In his youth, when not causing mischief with his life-long friends, he helped his parents run the local grocery store out of their home and the adjoining Tastee Freeze of West Dover on the site of the present-day Forrest Avenue McDonald's. After graduating from Dover High School in 1968, he attended college at Wesley for a short time. When he could not find a passion in his studies at Wesley, he attended Lear-Siegler Inc. (LSI) out of the Washington, D.C. area to learn the emerging fields in computer studies which led him to work for the State of Delaware supporting their computing infrastructure. Richard went out on his own to start a computer support company ComputerMite. He supported many clients and businesses all over the city for over 30 years, retiring in 2013.
Mr. Biddle enjoyed hunting, boating, and fishing, was an avid NASCAR and boxing fan, enjoyed fast cars, and of course a notable lover of dogs. He was a relentless Philly's fan forged through years of cheering on the team with some of his oldest childhood friends as well as an avid collector of wives, boats, mowers, and cars. Anyone lucky to meet him would attest to his joyous and goofy spirit along with his quick-witted humor, he will be sorely missed by all, but remembered always.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Welch.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Sharon Gonce Biddle of Dover; sister, Ginger Wingard of Dover; son, Max Biddle and his wife Dawn of St. Clair Shores, MI; grandchildren, Emily and Olivia Biddle; many cousins, nieces, great-nieces, and good-friend, Yvonne Heisler.
A celebration of life will be held at the Dover Elks Lodge on Nov. 30th from 11 am - 3 pm.
