Moyer was born May 18, 1929 in Staunton, Virginia to the late Edward and Malissa Moyer. He graduated from Dunsmore Business College in Staunton, Va. in 1951, and received his training in pastoral care at the United Wesleyan College in Allentown, Pa. He began his ministry at Greensboro Wesleyan Church in Greensboro, Md. in 1955. Over the next 38 years, Rev. Moyer pastored several area churches, including Georgetown Wesleyan Church, Milford Aldersgate, and finally as interim pastor at Pilgrim Chapel in Harrington, where he retired in 1993. In the early 1970s, he began Capital Business Services in Dover, which he operated for many years, providing accounting services for several local businesses. He was also a State of Delaware employee from 1979 to 1995, where he retired as an analyst for the Public Service Commission. Rev. Moyer lived to serve others and to share the Word. His main focus in life was his family, but his calling was helping others. A few of the ways that he helped others was by serving as the District Treasurer for the Wesleyan District, and as the Chief Financial Officer for the Wesleyan Christian School in Denton, Md. He will be remembered as a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a minister that one could depend on being there when one needed him. Rev. Moyer was a member of the Trinity Wesleyan Church of Dover. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Etta Mae Moyer, of Dover; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Melissa Moyer, of Magnolia; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Bert Allen, of Forest, Va.; brother and sister-in-law, Lelon and Delores Moyer, of Swoope, Va.; four grandchildren, Rachel Moyer, Laura Allen, Sidney "Chip" Allen III, and Amy Allen; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, with visitation from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity Wesleyan Church, 1564 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901; or to the Pilgrim Chapel, 4792 Milford Harrington Hwy., Harrington, DE 19952.
