CAMDEN - Ray J. Demby of Camden departed this life, after a short illness, Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, in Christiana Care-Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 97.

Mrs. Demby was born April 10, 1910, daughter of the late Mulbin Summers and Lillie Mae Jones.

She was employed as a domestic worker for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bose Demby Jr., Nov. 5; and by her husband, Bose Demby Sr.

She is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, Linford and Louise S. Demby of Cheswold; two daughters and a son-in-law, Vermon and George Sr. Hill of Quinton, N.J., and Marvella Demby and friend José Torres, both of Camden; a sister, Bernice McClain of Dover; 11 grandchildren, George Jr., Joyce, Patricia, Frank, Delila, Brenda, Vincent, Barbara, Ronald, Naomi and Migdalia; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call two hours earlier.

Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery, Dover.
