MILLINGTON, Md. - Randall R. Orff, 47, and his son, Jonathan R. Orff, 19, both of Millington, died Thursday, May 10, 2007, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
Randy was born Dec. 26, 1959, in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine. Jonathan was born Oct. 5, 1987, in Maine.
In 1988, the family moved to the Millington-Crumpton area.
Randy was employed as a superintendent for Brawner Construction for the past five and a half years.
Jonathan was a 2006 graduate of Queen Anne"s County High School.
He had worked for William Simpler Construction in Millington. He recently was hired with Brawner, working with his father.
As a family, they enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping and spending time with their friends.
At age 21, Randy joined Mount Kineo A.F.&A.M. Masonic Lodge in Guilford, Maine, where he served as a Lodge Master and received his 32nd degree at age 28. After moving to Maryland, he transferred to the Nur Shrine Temple of Wilmington, Del., serving three years as Boss Clown, participating in hospital visits and various events for the children. Both Randy and Jonathan were active members of Crumpton Volunteer Fire Co. (Queen Anne"s Station 7).
Jonathan was preceded in death by a maternal grandfather, Fred Collins; and a maternal great-grandfather, Luther Pearson.
They are survived by wife and mother Missy (Collins) Orff, whom Randy had married in 1984; son and brother Brandon Orff; Randy"s parents, Robert R. and Sheila Orff of Skowhegan, Maine; Randy"s brothers, Bruce Orff of Millington and Brian Orff of Skowhegan; Jonathan"s maternal grandparents, Joan and Sonny Simpler, and great-grandmother, Mary Pearson, all of Millington; and Jonathan"s girlfriend, Morgan Price.
Services with firemen"s honors will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Crumpton Volunteer Fire Hall, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Crumpton Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Brandon"s Educational Fund, c/o Mercantile Eastern Shore Bank, 101 E. Main St., Sudlersville, MD 21668.
