
Smyrna - Radcliffe John Carey passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Rad was born Aug. 6, 1931, in Leverett, Mass. to the late, Ralph and Vera (Wentworth) Carey. He was raised, and went to school in Leverett, Mass.; and after graduating High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served during the Korean War.
In 1964, he moved to Dover, and was employed as a maintenance specialist for General Foods, for 28 years, retiring in 1987.
Rad was an outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting, boating, crabbing, and clamming. He was also a sports enthusiast, an avid golfer, and enjoyed watching all sports on T.V. especially NASCAR, his favorite driver being, Jeff Gordon; as well as his beloved Boston Red Sox, and New England Patriots.
He was a life member of the B.P.O. Elks, and the Free & Accepted Masons, of Dover.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph "Sonny" Carey; sister, Violet Godfrey; and grandson, Rollin Carey.
Rad is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gloria (Fox) Carey; three children, Sheila Faye Carey, of Smyrna, Ronald R. Carey, of Wilmington and Ross A. Carey and wife, Maureen, of Middletown; two brothers, Richard Carey and wife, Margaret, of Leverett, Mass. and Thomas Carey and wife, Becky, of New Salem, Mass.; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You, to the Doctors, Nurses, and Caregivers from New Century Hospice, for their kindness, care, and compassion.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2018, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming; where family and friends may view from 2 to 3 p.m.
