Rachel M. Anderson of Chipley, Florida passed away suddenly on September 25, 2022. She was born in Biddeford, Maine on March 9, 1943.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Bertrand and Cecile Jacques of Biddeford, Maine; her husband, George H. Anderson of Chipley, Florida; and a son, Marc D Moreau of Milford, Delaware.
Rachel is survived by her brother, John Jacques (Sandy) of North Port, Florida; children, Brian Moreau (Debbie) of Harrington, Delaware; Colette Eckman (Doug) of Quarryville, Pennsylvania; Robyn Harrington (Joe) of Chipley, Florida and Michelle Whidden (Greg) of Butler, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Chris Fuller, Ashley Fair, Brandi Saenz, Nicole Minner, Logan Moreau, Chris Harrington and Emmalee Harrington; as well as ten great-grandchildren. Rachel had many friends but especially cherished family friends, Dot & Bruce Shaffer, Melvina (Mel) & Matt Taylor; as well as Nita Choban and Brenda Gaynor.
Rachel spent most of her life taking care of children, her own and many others. She held various jobs throughout the years. She ultimately began working for the Delaware DOC as a correctional officer. She found her way to the Stevenson House for juveniles in Milford, Delaware. She remained there until her move to Florida in 1991. It was then she found her true calling as a medical foster parent for the Florida DCF. She did this for over 20 years and fostered over 250 children. Since then she kept herself busy with family, friends, volunteering and especially her craft making. She never had idle hands.
Rachel has chosen not to have any services because she felt that "by the time I go and we haven't told each other how we feel about each other than so be it". So that being said she was a great supporter of St. Jude's Children's Hospital. If you would like to make a donation in her name, she would have appreciated that the most.
