Preston L. Steele, 82

LEIPSIC - Preston L. Steele, of Leipsic, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008, at home after a long illness. He was 82.

Preston was born on Feb. 22, 1926, in Henderson, Md., son of the late Walter and Georgia (Wheeler) Steele.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II as an engineer in Germany.

Preston worked for Tyler Refrigeration Clark Co. of Smyrna as a timekeeper.

After retirement, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and did appliance repair.

He is survived by two daughters, Violet M. Bauer of Dover and Sharon Taylor of Felton; a sister, Lula Zlock of Henderson, Md.; three nieces, Joyce Cohil, Barbara Little and Christine Fike, all of Maryland; two nephews, George Zlock of Dover and Gary Zlock of Maryland; a grandson, Edward Allen Truax of Dover; a granddaughter, Kyla M. Griffin of California; a great-granddaughter, Tyla Nicole Truax of Dover; a great-grandson, Aiden Griffin of California; a longtime friend and caregiver, Donna Sipple; and a special longtime friend, Virgil Rittenhouse of Arizona.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

Interment will follow at the cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Compassionate Care Hospice, 5610 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808.

Arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
