Paul David Rowland, 52

HARRINGTON - Paul David Rowland of Harrington died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 52.

Mr. Rowland was born in Valley Stream, Long Island, N.Y., son of the late Randolph and Beatrice Rowland.

He worked as a truck driver for 21 years for Burris Foods, Harrington.

In his spare time, Mr. Rowland enjoyed golfing and lately watching horror movies. He also loved to watch his favorite sports teams: the Mets, Jets and Duke University. He would spend hours watching their games and being an "armchair coach."

He will be remembered as a very loving and supportive dad. He was always there for his children, and attended almost every softball and Little League game as they were growing up. He would do anything for his family, unconditionally. He had a good sense of humor, and enjoyed busting people's chops.

Mr. Rowland was the shop steward for the Teamsters Local Union 355. He also belonged to the Shawnee Country Club, Milford.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Muriel Annito.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ellen Rowland; a son, Paul Rowland of Manorville, N.Y.; a daughter, Michelle Rowland of Wilmington; and a brother, Ronald Rowland of Wantagh, N.Y.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Highway, Harrington.

Vigil will be 7 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home, where friends may call until 9 p.m.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
