SEAFORD, DEL. - Orland Edward "Duke" Dukes, Jr. of Seaford, formerly of Millsboro, Del. and Collingdale, Pa., passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011, at the Seaford Center in Seaford. He was 82. Born in Philadelphia, Pa. on December 16, 1929, he was the son of the late Orland E. Sr. and Helen Bradley Dukes. Mr. Dukes lived most of his life in Collingdale, Pa. before moving to Millsboro, and then to Seaford. He retired from Boeing Vertol Division in Ridley Park in 1987, where he also participated as a member of the Fire Brigade. Mr. Dukes felt strongly about supporting the community through volunteerism. He was a member of the Collingdale Fire Company No. 1 for over 60 years and held every Line Office including Chief. He was also a Trustee and served on the Ambulance Board of Governors. He held the honor of being Collingdale Borough Fire Chief for a number of years. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and was also a member of Lansdowne Lodge No. 711 in Pennsylvania and Franklin Lodge No. 12 in Delaware. An avid dog lover throughout his life, friends and family recall stories of his pets, road trips, fishing and social events. He was a devoted father and greatly enjoyed family gatherings. He is survived by one son, James Moore; and wife Gerri Kuehn Moore of Millsboro; one daughter, Connie Moore George of Glenolden, Pa; and four grandchildren, Matthew and Jason George of Glenolden, Pa, and Nicole and Melissa Moore of Millsboro; he is also survived by two cousins that he was very close to, Janet Partridge Burns and Nancy Partridge Bellantine. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Elsie, Marie, and Irene Dukes. Services are private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Collingdale Fire Company No. 1 in memory of Orland Dukes. Collingdale Fire Co. No. 1, 510 Clifton Ave., Collingdale, PA 19023. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Williamson Funeral Home, Federalsburg, MD.
