Norris A. Bryan

SEAFORD - Norris A. Bryan passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 12, 2014. Norris was born in Laurel, Del., the son of the late Raymond and Lulu (Dukes) Bryan. He was a heavy equipment operator with David G. Horsey and Sons for 24 years, retiring in 2014. He had previously worked with the Soil Conservation Service for several years and Melvin L. Joseph Construction for 27 years. Norris was a member of Concord U.M. Church, Seaford Moose Lodge #1728, and American Legion Post #8. He enjoyed bowling, but especially stock car racing and drove the pace car at Delaware International Speedway in Delmar for over 30 years. In addition to his parents; he is preceded in death by his first wife, Ina Marie Wootten Bryan; a son, Aubrey Bryan; a daughter, Carla Jones; brothers, Reese and Raymond Bryan; his mother-in-law, Margaret Wootten, and a step sister; Elva Daisey. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Patsy (Elliott) Bryan; three children, Kevin Bryan, Deneen Kelleher and her husband Mark, all of Laurel, and Darren Bryan, of Millsboro; two step sons, Charles Campbell-King and his husband Stephen Campbell-King, of Middletown and Chris King and wife Kathy, of Newark; two sons-in-laws, Art Jones, of Salisbury, Md., and Douglas Lewis, Jr., of Laurel; a brother, Gene Bryan and wife Laura, of Seaford; and two sisters, Frances Peek and husband Norris, of Berlin, Md. and Debra Long, and husband Rick also of Seaford; sister in law Mary Ann Bryan of Seaford several grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson. A memorial service will be held Sunday evening August 17, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street, Georgetown, with visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be held privately. Fellowship and dessert will be at Grace Church in Georgetown, Sunday evening, following the services. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to Concord U.M. Church, 25322 Church Road, Seaford, DE 19973 or Compassionate Care Hospice, 28467 Dupont Boulevard, Suite 6, Millsboro, DE 19966.
