Norm was born May 26, 1926, in Stanton, son of the late Norman L. Sr. and Natalie I. (Powell) Howett.

A World War II veteran, he served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army.

After the war, Norm began an 18 year career with All American Engineering as an electronics expert.

In 1972, he decided that the hectic life of upstate Delaware was not for him, so he moved his family to Sussex County, where he formed Indian River Enterprises Inc.

After more than 20 years of boat rentals and a tackle shop, Norm finished his working career managing computer systems at Old Inlet Bait and Tackle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Howett; and his sister, Beverly Howett.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Annabelle L. (Morris) Howett; and three sons and eight grandchildren, Norman "Butch" and his wife Michelle of New Castle, and their children, Kimberly, Elizabeth and Aaron and Stacey and her husband Lester; Jeffrey of Rehoboth Beach, and his children, Brett and Ryan; and David and his wife Judy of Dagsboro, and their children, Kevin and Kristin and her husband Daniel.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, 1151 Walker Road, Suite 202, Dover, DE 19901; or Delaware Humane Society, 701 A St., Wilmington, DE 19801.
