Norbert "Bert" Tenenbaum, 82

DOVER - Norbert "Bert" Tenenbaum of Dover died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, at his home. He was 82.

Mr. Tenenbaum was born March 8, 1925, in Akron, Ohio, to the late John and Marion (Stern) Tenenbaum.

He served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years, and with the National Security Agency for 14 years.

Mr. Tenenbaum was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Dover, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, USS Toledo Association, the Association of Former Intelligence Officers and the Naval Cryptographic Association.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie, in 1982; and his second wife, Noelle Townshend Tenenbaum, in 1997.

Mr. Tenenbaum is survived by his son, John Tenenbaum and his wife Misty of Roseville, Ill.; a daughter, Megan Johnston and her husband Barry of North Smithfield, R.I.; two stepdaughters, Carol Eagle of Clayton, and Janet Levy of Dover; two stepsons, David Lane and Stephen Lane, both of Dover; a sister-in-law, Brenda Carty of South Croydon, England; two brothers-in-law, Derek Townsend of South Croydon, and George Townsend of Ayre, Scotland; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services and interment will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.

Friends may call Tuesday evening, from 6 to 8, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the First Southern Baptist Church of Dover, 761 S. Little Creek Road, Dover, DE 19901; or the Blood Bank of Delaware, 100 Hygeia Drive, Newark, DE 19713.
