Nellie V. McCabe, 92 DOVER - Nellie V. McCabe, age 92, of Dover, died Dec. 1, 2009. Born in Braddock, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Robare Creighton. Mrs. McCabe had served as a cashier for the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. (A&P) retiring in 1976. Upon her retirement she and her late husband, James, moved from Irwin, Pa., to Dover. She had been a member of Holy Cross Church in Dover and served as a volunteer at Kent General Hospital. She had enjoyed the time spent with family and friends and in years past was an avid bowler. In her quieter moments Mrs. McCabe enjoyed reading. She is survived by her son, James and his wife Cheri of Ruskin; two daughters, Ms. Patricia Courts of Lowndesville, S.C., and Kathy Bell and her husband Paul of Dover; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7th, at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, N. Huntingdon, Pa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. in St. Agnes Church, N. Huntingdon, Pa. Interment will follow in Good Shepherd Cemetery ,Monroeville Borough, Pa. Family suggests donations in her memory to Delaware Hospice 911 S. DuPont Hwy. Dover, DE 19901.
