CLAYTON - Nelda M. Hawkins, of Clayton, Del., passed away on Wed. May 2, 2012, at Kent General Hospital in Dover, Del. Ms. Hawkins was born Mar. 26, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of the late Robert and Glena Vagnier. She worked for many years at home as a child caregiver. Nelda enjoyed yard sales, sewing, and baking for the holidays. She was a very active and social person, and enjoyed talking to people. Other enjoyments were shopping, playing cards, and spending time with her grandkids. She is survived by three daughters, Lori J. Diaz of Camden, Ronda S. Kwasnieski of Dover, and Melissa Ann Peck of North East, Md.; four grandchildren, Josh, Chris, Haley, and Jessica; two great-grandchildren, Jase and Jaxon; her "adopted" daughter, Barbara, and her children, Austin and Alyssa. Memorial services will be held on Monday, May 14, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital., 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
