Motorcycle operator dies from crash injuries suffered in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN — A 61-year-old New Castle man died from injuries sustained after the motorcycle he was operating struck a vehicle Sunday, Delaware State Police said.

Police said the man was traveling at a high rate of speeed when it hit the back of vehicle waiting to merge onto the ramp for Del. 301 northbound. The motorcycle had been making abrupt lane changed, according to authorities.

The motorcycle operator was taken to an area hospital where he died. His name is being withheld until his family is notified, police said.

A driver and two passengers in the other vehicle were uninjured, polie said.
The roadway was closed for approximately three and half hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
