CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Mildred Clark Stryckning of Chestertown, Md. died Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at University of Maryland Shore Regional Hospital in Chestertown, Md. She was 89. Born September 18, 1926 in Pondtown, Md. she was the daughter of the late Dennis A. Clark Sr., and Grace "Bratcher" Clark. Mildred attended Garnett High School in Chestertown, Md. and later received a BS degree in education from Bowie State University and a Master's equivalent from Temple University. Mildred was married to the late Andrew H. Stryckning in 1948, making their home at Morgnec near Chestertown. She taught school in Queen Anne's County for 26 years, retiring in 1987, becoming a member of the Retired Teachers Union. Mildred was also a member of the Martha Grand Chapter, O.E.S. "Rose of Sharon" Lodge in West Philadelphia. She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church in Millington and served as secretary and also pianist for the John Wesley Choir for a number of years. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, music, and decorating her home and yard. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; five brothers, Birl, Dennis Jr., Allen, James and Charles; and four sisters, Helen, Lucille, Marguerite and Virginia. She is survived by her great niece, Ernestine Graves of Millingon, Md.; nephew, Grayson Jeffers, Jr. (Alice) of Chestertown, Md.; niece, Charlotte Potts of Chestertown, Md.; niece, Bettye Henry of Millington; niece, Iris Needam (Ernest) of Middletown,; and nephew, Mahlon Jeffers (Joyce) of Middletown; nephew-in-law, Augustine Graves; and a host of great, great, great nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, July 14, 2016, at Fellows Family Funeral Home, 370 Cypress St. Millington, Md. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Interment will follow the service in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Pondtown. Light refreshments will be served after the interment back at Asbury John Wesley United Methodist Church in Millington. Online condolences can be sent to the family at
