BLACKBIRD - Michael W. Burris, of Blackbird, died on Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Christiana Hospital, Newark. He was 47. Mike was a devoted father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was hardworking and was exceedingly kind and generous. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward F. Burris Jr. and Janet T. Burris. He is survived by his children, Reno R. Hart and Scarlett T. Hart, of Blackiston; his brother, Edward F. Burris III, of Newark; his sister, Lisa L. Burris, of Blackbird; a number of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, April 26, at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 2 p.m. Please wear blue jeans in honor of Mike. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to either Boy Scout Troop 239 c/o Sam Mace, 15 Glenway, Smyrna, DE 19977; or to the American Diabetes Assoc., 100 W. 10th St., Ste. 1002, Wilmington, DE 19801.
