NORFOLK, Va. - Michael J. Dunne of Norfolk lost his courageous battle against sarcoma cancer on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007. He was 43.

Mike was born in Harrisonburg on March 30, 1964, to John and Nancy Dunne.

He graduated from Fort Defiance High School, Blue Ridge Community College and Old Dominion University.

Mike was an electrical engineer.

He was employed at Oceana Controls at the time of his illness.

Before Oceana, Mike was worked Idax and then formed his own company and continued to provide his expertise to military and civilian companies.

Mike was a loving and devoted son, husband, father and loyal friend.

He loved to water ski and hunt.

Mike was famous among family and friends for his backyard parties which featured his own special barbecued pork.

During his illness, he was able to enjoy the love of his wife and the blessing of their children.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Donovan Dunne, formerly of Camden, Del.; their six month old twins, Annalee Marie and Jack Eugene; brothers, Brian and Gary Dunne; sister-in-law, Dana; and nieces, Kelly and Laurie Dunne.

A celebration of Mike's life was held at their home on Dec. 15, 2007. His family and friends hosted a Mike style backyard party according to his wishes.

A fund has been established for Mike and Sharon's children by their family and friends. Gifts may be sent to Sharon Dunne, sustodian, c/o Kristin Robinson, Troutman Sanders, Suite 2000, 222 Central Park Ave., Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
