Michael J.Cartanza, 87

DOVER - Michael J. Cartanza of Dover died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 87.

Born in Swedesboro, N.J., he was the son of the late Harry and Josephine (Cutuli) Cartanza.

Mr. Cartanza moved to Dover in 1947 and was a self-employed farmer his entire life.

He thoroughly enjoyed farming and trucking, and in his quieter moments enjoyed following the stock market.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rita M. Cartanza; and his brother, Philip P. Cartanza.

He is survived by one brother, Alfred J. Cartanza and his wife Alice of Pompano Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Mary E. Cartanza of Dover, Sister Josephine B. Cartanza of the Sisters of St. Lucy Filippini of Morristown, N.J., and Grace A. Meyers and her husband Calvin of Fort Meyers, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Sandra Cartanza of Dover; a special nephew and niece; caregivers, Paul and Jan Cartanza of Dover; as well as several other nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, S. State St., Dover.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.
