Mary Kathryn Willey, 101
DOVER - Mary Kathryn Willey of Dover passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2008, in the Capitol Healthcare Nursing Home. She was 101.
Kathryn was born on May 21, 1906, in Camden to the late William David Willey and Katie Oechsler Willey Boyd.
Upon graduation, she went to work for the Diamond State Telephone Co., where she worked for years, retiring in 1969.
Kathryn was the first business office supervisor in Kent and Sussex counties.
She was a member of Whatcoat Methodist Church, Camden, where she served as treasurer for 45 years. She was also the Sunday school superintendent for many years and served on many church committees and sang in the church choir and was a member of the United Methodist Women.
Kathryn was a member of the Wyoming-Camden Round Table Club and sang with The Singing Ladies.
She was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of which she was a past president.
Kathryn was preceded in death by three brothers, William David Willey Jr., Martin D. Willey, and Marion Foskey Boyd; and a sister, Louise E. Willey Dyer Barteau.
She is survived by one brother, William Boyd Jr. and his wife Betty of Dover; several nieces and nephews, Richard Willey, Geraldine Willey, Donna Lins, Cindy Black, Kenneth Boyd, Glen Boyd, William Boyd III; and nephew and caregiver, Pat Dyer and his wife Bonnie of Dover and their children, Mark Dyer and his wife Sonya, Jeffery Dyer and his wife Denise and Julie Clontz and her husband Eric.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Whatcoat United Methodist Church, 16 N. Main St., Camden, where friends may call one hour prior.
Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to Whatcoat United Methodist Church, 16 N. Main St., Camden, DE 19934.
