Mary Gladys Burkett Benchoff

DENTON, Md. - Mary Gladys Burkett Benchoff of Denton, Md., died Friday, February 26, 2015, at the Envoy of Denton. She was 90 years old. Born in Antrim Township, Franklin Co., Pa., Mrs. Benchoff was the daughter of the late Harry C. Burkett and Eva Fola Smith Burkett. Her husband, Paul Sterling Benchoff, died in 1990. Mrs. Benchoff was a stay-at-home mother. She enjoyed gardening, cats, yard sales, and visits from grandchildren. Mrs. Benchoff is survived by four sons, Bill Benchoff and his wife Lana of Georgetown, Del., Edward "Bob" Benchoff of Denton, Steve Benchoff of Greensboro, Md., and Michael Benchoff of Nome, Alaska; one daughter, Diana K. Hughes and her husband Gene of Felton, Del.; a daughter-in-law, Helen Benchoff of Centreville, Md.; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel "Benny" Sterling Benchoff in 2009 and David "Jim" Benchoff in 2014. A graveside memorial service for both Mrs. Benchoff and her son, Benny, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2014 in the Denton Cemetery, 28465 Meeting House Road in Denton.
