Mary Emma Hines Elliott

PONDTOWN, Md. - Mary Emma Hines Elliott, of Pondtown, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, at ChesterRiver Hospital Center, Chestertown. She was 94. Emma was born on Oct. 13, 1916, to the late Charles and Sara Augusta Hines. She attended Pondtown School and worked several factory jobs in Delaware and Maryland. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant UnitedMethodist Church, Pondtown. She attended the Sudlersville Crumpton Senior Center. Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Elliott who passed away April 27, 1985; sisters, Bessie Downes, Annie Ringgold, Myrtle Rasin, and Edna Lewis; brothers, Charles Hines, Reese Hines, John Hines, and William Hines. Emma leaves to cherish precious memories, her children, Jean Phillips (Robert Sr.) Glen Arden, Md., Lutricia "Tricia" Henry (Noble) Pasadena, Md., Valerie Elliott Cambridge, Md., and Wayne Elliott (Wanda) Pondtown, Md; stepsons Norman Elliott, Tyrone Elliott and Larry Wilson; 12 grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren; brother-in-law, Haywood Elliott of Pondtown; special nieces, Betty Downes, Elsie Jeffers and Barbara Ann Harris, all of Pondtown; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and members of the Sudlersville Crumpton Senior Center. The viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Mt.Pleasant United Methodist Church, Millington. A funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 24, with viewing two hours prior to service. Arrangements by Bennie Smith Funeral Home.
