DENTON, Md. - Marvin Dinkle of Denton, Maryland and Prime Hook, Delaware died Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. surrounded by his family following a long struggle with COPD. Marvin was predeceased by his parents Wilmer and Pauline Monroe Dinkle and is survived by his wife, Kay Monroe Dinkle; and his son, David and David's wife Jeanne; and his son, Robert (Rob) and his wife Jenny. He is also survived by his grandson, Mike Dinkle; and his granddaughter, Lisa Dinkle Bowman; and by his grandchildren, Nick and Kara Dinkle and Luke Bowman; as well as by his brother, William and by multiple nieces and nephews. His marriage to Kay made him an honorary member of the Monroe Cousins' Club and he and Kay enjoyed hosting Cousins reunions at their summer home at Prime Hook. Marvin was born in Washington, D.C. and following his graduation from Eastern High School he served as a Military Police officer with the U.S. Army and later in the Army Reserves. He often joked that no foreign forces ever invaded New Jersey during his tour of duty there. In 1963 Marvin and Kay moved to the Eastern Shore where Marvin worked at Hill and Sanders in Wheaton. He then owned and operated Caroline Auto & Body Shop in Denton. After his retirement he worked in maintenance for the Cabell Corporation. He enjoyed spending summers in Prime Hook and fishing in the Delaware Bay. The service for Mr. Dinkle will be held 12 noon, Thursday, Nov. 14 2013 at the Fleegle-Helfenbein Funeral Home on Sunset Avenue in Greensboro, Maryland. Interment will immediately follow the service at the Greensboro Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
