MILFORD - Martin L. Smith, "Marty" passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at his home. He was born in Waynesboro, Pa., on Oct. 10, 1943, son of the late Martin L. Smith and Lillie M. (Myers) Smith. Mr. Smith began work back in 1987 in production for Perdue, eventually retiring in 2006. He was a proud member of the social organizations, the Eagles Club Inc. of Waynesboro, Pa., and a social member of the VFW in Greencastle, Pa. Mr. Smith was an avid Yankees fan. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, William M. Smith, Elmer S. Smith and Louis H. Smith; and seven sisters, Mary J. Myers, Charlotte A. Cordell, Betty M. Patterson, Clara Smith, Helen L. McKean, Dorothy M. Olson and Katherine Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Shirley Smith; and three children, Brenda Rhoads and husband Richard, Deborah Rogers and husband Richard and a son, Brian Smith. Also five surviving siblings, Delores Mosser, Nancy Christophel, Linda Carmichael, Norman Patterson and Jeffery Patterson and four grandchildren; Joshua, Cassidy and Lindsay Rhoads, and Ethan Rogers. A visitation will be held on Saturday, April, 26 2014 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the chapel of Berry Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, DE 19963. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Delaware Hospice, 100- Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
