DOVER - Marietta F. Kertiles passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014 at Westminster Health Center. Mrs. Kertiles was born Apr. 26, 1927 in Hartly, DE to the late Maurice B. and Nettie V. Farr. Mrs. Kertiles married her husband, Paul, in January of 1950. Her family was very important to her. Once her daughters were in school, she worked for the Division of Libraries for 26 years, retiring in 1988. She continued to work part-time upon her retirement. An avid reader, she also enjoyed playing bridge and having lunch dates with classmates from the Class of 1945. She was a member of The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Wilmington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Kertiles, and her brother, Thomas B. Farr. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Goldie Legates; daughters, Paula Hastings of Dover and Pamela Swain of Smyrna; grandchildren, Taylor and Matthew Swain. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to a charity of one's choice. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
