Marie R. Savin
Marie R. Savin passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. Born in Lewes, Delaware, Marie was the oldest daughter of William and Margaret Ritter.
She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, John F. Savin, Jr.; her granddaughter, Marian Patterson; her brothers, Bert Ritter, Irvin Ritter; sisters, Mary Lou Steele, Joan Burton, Janice Moseley; and nephew, Knox Ritter.
Marie graduated from Lewes High School and worked at Farmers Bank, Mellon Bank and Ritter Farms. She was a faithful Hospice volunteer until she passed away. She also volunteered at Milford Memorial Hospital.
She found her greatest joy in her family and was a loving mother, grandmother, great¬ grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a talented seamstress, and her hobbies included crocheting, reading, puzzles, traveling and spending time with family and friends. She was an active member and elder of First Presbyterian Church in Milford, was a former elder at Lewes Presbyterian Church and for many years was a member of the Eastern Star and Pocahontas.
Marie is survived by her two daughters, Jacqueline Searles (Bill) and Peggy Short (Ted); her grandchildren, Frank Savin (Michele), Jon Freeman, David Patterson, Jason Breault (Amy), Stephanie Cook (Dale); her great grandchildren, Kymber and Gregory Savin, Simone Freeman, Maggie and Boe Patterson and Marie Short. She is also survived by her brothers, Frank Ritter (Janet) and Bud Ritter (Jacqui); and sisters, Ethel Lee, June Simpson (Dan) and Pat Rust (Larry); and many nieces and nephews
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, Del. where viewing will begin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow the services at the Lewes Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
