DOVER - Marie A. Sauer, 90, of Dover, died peacefully April 26, 2011, surrounded by loved ones. Born in New York, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Carmella (Fortunato) Leonforte. Mrs. Sauer had worked as a Claims Specialist for Prudential Insurance for over 20 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the company of her loving friends at State Street Assisted Living, but most of all she cherished the time spent with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by Charles Sauer, her loving husband of over 63 years; and her grandson, Justin Sauer in 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn A. Chaffee and husband Gary of Felton; one son, Charles P. Sauer and companion Leslie Turner, of Plano, Texas; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A private service will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. Donations in her memory may be made to Vitas Hospice, 100 Commerce Drive, Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713. Life's End Services are by Michael J. Ambruso Funeral Director, Inc. Condolences may be forwarded and Guest Book signed via www.ambruso.com.
